How does Online Physiotherapy at Formotion work?

New clients or a new issue

You may get a short pre-appointment assessment call/email so we can get an idea of your condition and let you know what equipment or space we may need during the video consultation.

At this point we may also decide to refer you on to another health professional or suggest a face-to-face consultation in emergencies.

We will then send you a link to "Physiapp", which will set you up with our exercise programming app, this will have the information you'll need to prepare for your appointment.

Your Appointment

When it is time for your appointment, we will video call you through Physiapp, where the consultation will include further questions and adapted visual & verbal assessments to diagnose your issue.

Treatment will mostly be exercise based therapy, education or simple self releases which we can take you through.

We will then set up your video-based exercise-rehab/training program in the same app which will also include advice for training, coaches and daily habit modifications.

The video shows a small snippet of us working with an online client who lives remotely to give you an idea.

What else is included?

Our online consultations come with extra value:

• Added access compared to our face-to-face consults. You can email us, or arrange a quick phone call outside of your follow up session to discuss any concerns that might arise about your injury before your next follow up.

• We can also make small changes and updates to your exercise program if you have any issues, or need to be progressed sooner!

• You can also send us videos of you doing your rehab or training for us to give you some feedback on.

When is Online Physiotherapy a good option?

If you are self isolating or are choosing to socially distance yourself during Covid-19.

• If you live rurally or remotely or are traveling and are unable to make it to a Physiotherapy clinic.

• Your issue mostly requires a combination of exercise, stretches and changes to your movement patterns which can all be assessed through a video consultation.

• You are unable to leave your house for other reasons - like if you have kids that are hard to gather for things like appointments! Or you have hurt yourself in a way that is making it hard to travel and you would like some advice on steps to take next.

What do I need?

A smartphone or computer with a front facing camera.

• A stable internet connection.

• A space where you can move around, potentially lie down and is reasonably quiet.

• Something to stand your device in so that you don’t need to hold onto your phone.

How long are the consultations?

The same as a normal consultation with us, generally these are 45mins for an initial assessment and 30mins for a standard follow up.

What is the cost, how do I pay, and can I claim them on private health?

The cost is the same as a normal consultation with us, which you can view here.

• We will send you an invoice after the appointment which you can pay for online through direct deposit.

• You will then be sent a receipt which you can send to your private health fund for a rebate. The amount rebated depends on your private health cover, you will need to contact them for more information on that.

• Please note only 1:1 telehealth consultations can be claimed on private health.

How do I book an appointment?

• The same way you book your usual appointments, either book online, select under online consultation when picking appointment type, or contact the clinic on 0422 483 865 or email admin@formotionphysio.com.

One our values at Formotion Physio is “Empowerment”, we strive to give you the tools you need to help yourself wherever possible. We achieve this mostly through focusing much more on exercise and teaching you about your body.

While hands-on treatment is necessary in some cases, the modern gold standard of Physiotherapy has shifted to a more exercise and education based approach. This is why online Physiotherapy can work so well.
